Troop 379 believes in the approach that Scouting should be “Youth Leading Youth.”  Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement, called Scouting “… a game with a purpose.”  The ‘game’ is to have fun.  The ‘Purpose’ is to build young people into leaders through character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Boys and girls who spend their teen years under starlit skies with the smell of campfire smoke on their clothes develop memories that will last them a lifetime.  It is our greatest hope that along the way they will learn to lead and follow, as well as develop critical life skills that will help them become respectful, respectable, self-reliant adults.
